Get the pregnancy care you deserve with highly-regarded obstetricians in Melbourne.

At MOGS, welcoming little lives into the world every day is our passion. We’re skilled, experienced obstetricians and gynaecologists who will help you have the smoothest pregnancy and birth possible.

Excellence in private
obstetrics care

Welcoming a baby is an exciting time for you and your family. We’re here to make sure it’s also a safe and healthy time.

At MOGS, we provide the best private obstetrician care in Melbourne for both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies. We are located at the Epworth Freemasons Maternity Hospital in East Melbourne. We also work from St Vincent’s Hospital, in East Melbourne.

The facilities and service provided by the Epworth Freemasons and your team of obstetricians are first class. And after you’ve welcomed your baby, you’ll convalesce in luxury at the nearby Park Hyatt.

Your care

At MOGS, you can choose either Dr Claire Francis or A/Prof. Fiona Brownfoot as your private obstetrician to build a strong and long-lasting relationship with, over the course of your care. Our patient centred approach means we will listen to you, develop our advice and care around and in conjunction with you – individualising your pregnancy and birth care from your first appointment until your last one with us.

We understand that many women preferred to be cared for by a female specialist obstetrician. That’s why, in the unlikely event that Associate Professor Fiona Brownfoot or Dr Claire Frances aren’t available, we’ll arrange for you to see one of our trusted female consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists.

With decades of experience in Australia and overseas, a strong commitment to staying at the front of medical and surgical academic research and a passion for ensuring our approach and practice is as advanced as science allows, we will work hard to ensure we achieve the best outcomes we can for you.

How the team at MOGS works

Our all-female team includes obstetricians and gynaecologists Associate Professor Fiona Brownfoot and Dr Claire Francis. Completing the team is our specialist midwife, Prue.

We are all here to ensure you have a smooth pregnancy and journey to motherhood and that your baby has the best possible start to life.

We focus on building trusting, long-lasting relationships. That’s why you will see the same specialist female doctor for most of your pregnancy medical appointments. She will also (most likely) be the one to deliver your baby.

Throughout your journey with us, you’ll also get to meet our midwife Prue. She will see you for a few visits and guide you through the midwifery aspects of your pregnancy. This all means you will be as prepared as you can be for pregnancy, birth and beyond.

The Epworth Melbourne

Located in the heart of East Melbourne, the Epworth Freemasons Hospital offers specialist obstetric care in state-of-the-art luxury facilities. This is one reason why the combination of having MOGS as your private obstetricians at the Epworth Freemasons Hospital is a great choice for your care.

Getting ready for your first appointment

Welcome to your first visit! At this appointment your specialist obstetrician will ask you many questions about your past medical history, and perform a general medical exam and ultrasound. Some patients have a lot of questions so make sure you bring these along! At the end of this consult you will have a plan for your pregnancy journey with us.

It is really important that you bring your paperwork and your test results along with you.

These include:

  • Referral letter from your GP or specialist
  • Any blood test results that may have been performed while you were pregnant
  • Any recent ultrasound results
  • Your last pap smear or cervical screening test results.
  • Your Medicare card and private health insurance details. Not all health insurers cover all parts of obstetric care so you may want to call them.

You are welcome to bring along your partner or a trusted friend to any of your appointments with us.
